I have always loved long flowing hair. This work represents all that is beautiful in a woman with endless possibilities. Interwoven in her hair made with gold chains, are coins and cut stained glass with tiny fairy lights illuminating her hair for all to admire. This woman is well dressed and covered in bling. Let your eyes move around the guitar and discover the beauty of her environment.
Mixed Media Mosaic Art
I repurpose old guitars, mandolins, violins and most any stringed instruments into mixed media mosaics art. Each musical instrument has its own special theme or color scheme. I not only use traditional mosaic materials such as stain glass, mosaic tiles but I also enjoy using a variety of objects such as jewelry, found objects, tools, and almost anything available. I especially enjoy incorporating objects that have been lovingly given to me by students, friends and families. Many objects are incorporated in my art as a tribute to that person. A part of them will live on in my art.
I retired after 30 years as middle school band director at Mattanawcook Junior High School in Lincoln, Maine were I currently live with my husband.
I grew up in Salem, Massachusetts and I am graduate of the University of Hartford’s Hartt School of Music. I taught music in Oxford, MA for four years before moving to Maine. In 2004, I was awarded the Fulbright Teacher Scholarship, with which I traveled and visited schools in Japan. In 2005 I produced a mixed media middle school band concert sharing with the community about life in Japan. I am also an avid gardener, tending a growing collection of garden art among my flowers, vegetables, perennials and rocks.
I discovered mosaic art in adult education class at Mattanawcook Academy in the fall of 2016 and never stopped.

2016 I Began my life as a Mixed Media Mosaic Artist.
Because of my experience as a band director/teacher, I am very good at producing events that include the community. I managed just about everything that is involved in producing a public, concert. For example, news releases, designing programs, set up of stage and concert hall (gym) publicity, not to mention managing over a hundred children for each performance.
I have a very good working knowledge of computers and am willing to help out wherever I can.
